Food That Nourishes is a narration of the food revolution happening all around us: on our plates, in our communities, and often tucked away in gardens, allotments, and fields. It is a food movement that enriches our health and supports the livelihoods of farmers and food producers, whilst operating in harmony with the planet’s ecological boundaries.
It is a resistance to Food That Poisons, the dominant system we have found ourselves in. A system that has been stripped of flavour, nutrition, and tradition, causes us disease, exploits all members of the food chain, and destroys the planet’s climate and biodiversity, on which we depend.
Food That Nourishes shares its sentiment with the Slow Food Movement, whose founder, Carlo Petrini, poetically described it as a movement that “unites the pleasure of food with responsibility, sustainability, and harmony with nature”.

Purpose
To celebrate and spread awareness of the people, communities, and projects involved in the food revolution, demonstrating that a nourishing food system is possible. In the words of Carlo Petrini, its ambition is to inspire people to become co-producers of their own food, rather than passive consumers.
Objectives
- Inspire participation and support of the agroecological movement, encouraging co-production of their own food
- Increase awareness and education on how people can be co-producers of their food (growing, cooking, sourcing and eating well).
- Get listeners and readers signed up to local veg boxes and food cooperatives
